Why Associations Matter

Associations touch nearly every profession in the country. Behind each one is a leader, and behind those leaders is ALC. See the scale of what associations do and where we fit.

See the Impact

Peer Community

Whether at in-person meetings or online forums, ALC connects society leaders who share real advice and honest input with people who do the same rare work.

How We Gather

Shared Programs

Through ALC, member societies tap into shared education and data programs they can pass along to their own members, turning collective effort into learning and revenue for every organization.

Our Story

In the summer of 2004, executives from societies of association executives (SAEs) made a decision. After years of loose collaboration, they wanted a place of their own, to compare notes, borrow good ideas, and work through the hard parts of running an association together. So they voted to form the Association Societies Alliance.

What started as a handful of peers has grown into a network of more than 30 societies spanning 40+ states and beyond, representing over 4,000 associations and the more than 14,000 professionals who keep them running. Now, as the Association Leadership Coalition, we're carrying that same founding spirit into what comes next.

ALC is open to state, regional, and international societies of association executives (SAEs). Join a trusted circle of peers who share what works and build what no single society could alone.

If you lead an SAE, this is your peer network, a place to share what you know, and learn from people who do your same work.
